Will Justin Gilbert be able to be the bookend cornerback opposite of Joe Haden ? Pettine has said his style of defense depends on cornerbacks who can play press man-to-man coverage. The Browns made two trades in the top eight picks of the NFL Draft to secure Gilbert. The hope is to plug Gilbert on the outside and let him hold down one side of the field. Buster Skrine filled the role last season but is more suited for the slot and if Gilbert can handle the responsibilities assigned him, the domino effect at cornerback will give the Browns a much stronger CB corps.

He is a better runner than blocker and last year was second on the team with 240 yards rushing. TIGHT ENDS: Starters – Jordan Cameron, Jim Dray. Backups – MarQueis Gray, Gary Barnidge, James Oboh. The Browns are likely to open in a two-tight end set because of Shanahan’s commitment to run the ball. Dray would be the second tight end in such formations because he is a better blocker than the backups.
